Hello!
Our Story
Hello, friend. I’m Erika Bain. I am a wife, mom, writer, director, and most importantly, a disciple of Jesus. My husband, Steven, and I live in Eastern North Carolina with our son, Asher, where we lead a life shaped by worship, creativity, and community.
Inscribe the Word began with a simple but powerful conviction: when we slow down to write God’s Word by hand, it sinks deeper into our hearts. What started as a personal discipline quickly became a ministry of encouragement and truth.
While our roots trace back to a blog called The Felicity Bee and later A Symphony of Praise, Inscribe the Word is a Scripture-centered space rooted in a simple conviction: God’s Word is not only meant to be read. It is meant to be lived.
For many years, Inscribe the Word offered Scripture-writing resources designed to help people engage the Bible slowly and reflectively, one verse at a time. That practice remains at the heart of this work. Writing Scripture has always been a way to quiet the noise, attend to God’s voice, and learn His heart through His Word.
Today, Inscribe the Word holds Scripture not only as text on the page, but as the lens through which life is understood . . . through story, art, beauty, suffering, faithfulness, and the ordinary places God meets us.
Here, Scripture is:
written slowly
carried into lived experience
allowed to interpret our stories rather than sit apart from them
a place of formation where Scripture is central to our lived experience
Each week, Inscribe the Word offers reflections shaped by Scripture as it intersects with real life: the stories we tell on stage and off, the roles we inhabit, the relationships that form us, and the quiet ways God reveals Himself through beauty, obedience, and presence.
For those who are seeking structured Scripture-writing practices, Inscribe the Word also offers curated resources, including themed writing plans and guided journeys through Scripture, created to return to at your own pace, without pressure or performance.
Whether you are here to write Scripture, to read slowly, or to learn how to see your own life through the Word of God, you are welcome.
Steven and I also run a nonprofit community theater in Jacksonville, NC called The Seeing Place, where we spend much of our time telling stories that reflect truth, beauty, and hope. Whether through words or stage, our mission remains the same . . . offering all of life as worship.
We’re so glad you’re here.
Grace and Peace,
STEVEN & ERIKA BAIN
