New To Scripture Writing? Start Here.
Welcome!
I’m so glad you’re here.
At Inscribe the Word, we believe that writing Scripture is one of the simplest, most powerful ways to draw closer to God. In a world that moves fast, the spiritual discipline of Scripture writing invites you to slow down, quiet the noise, and let the truth of God’s Word sink deep into your heart.
If you are new here, you may be wondering . . . what is Scripture writing?
Let’s explore this practice together.
What is Scripture Writing?
It’s exactly what it sounds like: opening your Bible, picking up a pen, and writing down a passage of Scripture word for word. Not copying and pasting. Not reading and moving on. Just slowing down long enough to Inscribe His Word one verse at a time.
Here’s why it matters:
You slow down.
Writing helps you pause. It keeps you present. When you write a verse by hand, your heart and mind engage in a way that reading alone often doesn’t.
You remember.
Studies show that we retain more when we write things down. The same is true with God’s Word. Writing helps you remember what you’ve read and reflect on it throughout the day.
You make space for God to speak.
When you take time to write Scripture, you’re not just going through the motions. You’re creating space for the Holy Spirit to highlight words, speak truth, and guide you deeper.
You grow in faith, one verse at a time.
You don’t have to read an entire book of the Bible to start growing. With Scripture writing, even a few verses a day can build a rich and steady foundation of truth.
How to Get Started
You don’t need anything fancy: just your Bible, a pen, and a notebook.
But if you want a little guidance, I’ve created monthly Scripture writing plans to help you stay rooted in the Word. You’ll find a passage for each day, centered around a specific theme like peace, identity, or the promises of God or books of the Bible like The Gospel of John.
